The Activists' Watch

October 27, 2023

Turning the embers into a bonfire

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

Activists’ Guide is a community bulletin board which publicizes events sponsored by “boots on the ground” organizations.

Entries may be made to the AG’s calendar by any organization whose actions attempt to create a more just, equitable, non-violent world.

The stance taken by a particular organization/government is not considered. We are not a megaphone for one side or the other.

This is the second time in its history that Activists’ Watch is encouraging folk to vote.

The Nov. 7 election is crucial to all of us. It is a piece in the puzzle which shows how the fascists are taking over the US. Numerous candidates in Charlottesville and Albemarle are running for School Boards with platforms and marketing that subtly expose them as fascists and or/supremacists. But, they claim to be running for us.
For example, in Albemarle County, Meg Bryce stated that institutional racism does not exist. In analyzing school achievement, Joann McDermid equated skin color with socio-economic status.

These are the fascists who could determine the content of your children’s textbooks.
Think that they’re harmless?
Look at this: Scholastic isolates ‘diverse titles’ at book fairs as challenges spike

What are going to do about it?
  • Complain?
  • Feel confident that justice will prevail unaided?
Voting is the best tool we have. Don’t wait to protest until after the election.

REMEMBER: Democracy is not a spectator sport

"Love is but a song we sing
Fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why"
