CALL TO ACTION:
RVA Unity Walk PEACE AND POWER DEMONSTRATION |
Saturday, August 27 | 5:30pm | Virginia Museum of History and Culture Join Coming to the Table RVA as we walk in Peace AND Power, honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of building the beloved community and taking inspired action to dismantle systems of oppression and create a city, state, nation and world that is just and equitable for all! It is time to cross all divides and stand together! We will be commemorating the 59th anniversary of MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Participants will have the opportunity to take the Richmond Pledge to End Racism together! Speakers from different community organizations, neighborhood groups and faith communities will briefly talk about issues that need to be addressed by our area’s leaders and how we can make a difference. This year’s walk will culminate the Voices for Virginia’s Children’s annual “Racial Truth and Reconciliation Week,” promoting the reckoning with Virginia’s past to heal and reconcile our present and future.
